Monday, December 20th at 1030, the Hard Road tower site will be off-line for maintenance. The work is expected to last two hours. Users in Dublin and along Riverside Drive will experience degraded walkie coverage, especially in medium to high-density buildings in that immediate area. The backup talk-groups of COIRSLE and COIRSFD on the MARCS system will be available and monitored for backup communication if needed.
A full-service message will be sent when the work is complete.

Network Maintenance – Huntley Road
On the morning of Thursday February 25th between 00:01 and 06:00, Verizon will be performing network maintenance on the circuit that serves the Huntley Road tower site. Users can expect as many as three outages lasting between 15-30 minutes taking the Huntley site out of service. Users will notice diminished in-building walkie coverage in and around the Worthington area. There may be a short period of site trunking as well.
System roaming should not be affected, with other area towers remaining in service and covering this area. Impact to the users should be minimal.
For any questions, please contact Jay Somerville.
Hard Road Tower Work
Starting on Monday May 18th at 8am, technicians from Motorola will take the Hard Road tower site off line as part of the project to replace the equipment shelter building. The work is expected to last until the afternoon of Wednesday May 20th. During this period, this site will be off the air. Users in Dublin and along Riverside Drive will experience degraded walkie coverage, especially in medium to high density buildings in that immediate area. The backup talk-groups of COIRSLE and COIRSFD on the MARCS system will be available and monitored for backup communication, if needed.
A full service message will be sent when the work is complete.
System Upgrade
COIRS System Users:
As part of our ongoing system maintenance program, Motorola will be performing an upgrade to the COIRS radio system starting Monday, March 18th . This first week of the upgrade will involve the tower sites and connectivity and be mostly transparent to the users. However, we are expecting to experience at least four “site trunking” events. These are scheduled for the following days/times:
- Monday, 3/18 at 10:20
- Tuesday, 3/19 at 08:40, 13:20 and 17:20
Each event will last approximately 10 minutes. Users will receive a “SITE TRUNKING” notification on their display, but talk-groups should continue to function normally and all sites will remain functional with no expected change in coverage. Dispatch consoles will lose connectivity and dispatchers will need to be prepared to use back up radios during these events.
As with any upgrade, the schedule can fluctuate. NRECC and/or DELCOMM will announce over the radio, including LAW MUTUAL before each event.
CS Lauren Yankanin will be the point person during the first week of the upgrade should there be any problems. You may contact her or Director Patrick Brandt of DelComm with any problems or concerns.
During the week of March 25th, Motorola will be visiting each of the dispatch centers to perform upgrades to the MCC7500 consoles. This will cause approximately 45 minutes of down time at each position. A specific schedule for change outs is being drafted and will be shared with you when it is ready.
Maintenance Alert: Upper Arlington
Tonight (12/28/18), starting at 1900, the City of Upper Arlington will be doing maintenance on the fiber optic network that connects the COIRS radio tower located at Station 72. This maintenance will take that site off line. The outage could last up to 8 hours and will degrade in-building walkie coverage in and around UA, especially south of Lane Ave.
UAPD and UAFD will remain on their normal COIRS talk-groups and will only move to COIRS LE or COIRS FD if the need arises. For any in building fire responses, it will be the discretion of the IC whether to move the response to COIRS FD.
All other COIRS towers will remain in service during this maintenance.
If you have any questions, please contact Jay Somerville.
XO Communications has notified COIRS that they will be performing network upgrades on the circuits that support our radio system on Saturday 06/16 between 00:01 and 06:00 and on Monday 06/18 between 00:01 and 06:00. There could be connectivity interruptions of up to 20 minutes during this time frame that will cause the system to go into site trunking.
Dispatchers will need to be ready to use back up radios/walkies during this outage. Although the consoles may remain connected, they will not be usable on COIRS talk-groups during site trunking & walkies must be used.
Field units will receive the “SITE TRUNKING” notice on their radios, but can continue to operate on their normal talk-groups. System roaming will be turned off during this time so that units won’t get separated onto the Delaware side of the system. Delaware County users will not be affected during this outage.
If you have any questions/concerns about the outages, please contact Jay Somerville or Patrick Brandt.
